Transportation Tips
Many out of state students do not come to George Mason University with a vehicle. In order to ensure that all of our students have the ability to explore Fairfax, shop for necessities, and travel to major airports, the university has developed several transportation services. While you can view all university transportation services at transportation.gmu.edu, below are some services that may be of interest to out-of-state students.
Mason to Metro Shuttle:
Mason offers a shuttle service to and from the Vienna Metro orange line station, including late hours of operation on weekends. From the orange line, the rest of the Metro is easily accessible which allows for smooth transit to the Capitol and major airports and transportation hubs. The Mason to Metro shuttle information and hours of operation can be found at shuttle.gmu.edu while information on the Metro, including hours of operation and fare rates, can be found at wmata.com.
CUE Bus Access:
With a George Mason Student ID, students have free access to Fairfax’s public CUE Bus system. The CUE Buses allow students to connect to the community, run errands, and explore Fairfax, as well as reach remote shopping centers and the Vienna Metro station.
Gunston Go Bus:
This service provides free transportation to anyone with a Mason ID through the academic year between the Fairfax campus and local shopping centers. The shuttle runs seven days a week, with late-night service on Friday and Saturday nights including Old Town Fairfax. The schedule and other information including pick-up and drop-off locations are listed on the website. So, where can Gunston take YOU?
